Honestly, I feel like I’ve come to understand heroes in a whole new light through those shows, and also gained even deeper appreciation for the superheroes we know and love for being good people
Sorry for taking so long to respond to this @Applejack- the notification got buried- my bad. Thank you so very much for doing the dilligence on this and getting back to me as I know you’re very busy with the admin stuff.
Pretty sure that this image of our gurrrl spinning all these plates is a solid assessment of your workload here at DCU and again I’m glad you were able to get back to me on this. As always- You Rock!
Hehehe, as a fellow Babs fan I can guess you know the feeling! And it’s my pleasure, no need to apologize at all Keep in touch if you have anything you’d like me to double-check on those entries! We’re all just a bunch of squishy humans, so it’s entirely possible something amazing slipped through the cracks.
hehehehe lookit little sulky Batman!
@Applejack, or anyone: weirdest float combo you’d recommend to another human?
I’m all about the classics! Give me a root beer float any day of the week. I did see a strawberry ice cream/sparkling lemonade combo that appeared pretty tasty, but I think I’ll have to wait for it to heat back up to enjoy. I’m fully nestling into the (slightly) cooler season!
Also, have you seen The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell? I follow her on Instagram, but also watch the show for Rose the Raccoon. Shes hilarious. It’s my duty to share her.
No!! It caught my eye when it was first released but I think British Baking Show dwarfed it. I do love a good raccoon…
This board is acting weird with some glitches.
I’m sure you could find some on CD, but I never looked into it. I had a friend back in the day who was a huge old time radio fanatic and used to lend me boxes of cassette tapes that I’d listen to at night. A lot of them were great fun. Some still even hold up today (and some not so much).
If you’re interested, it seems there’s a podcast than plays some of the original episodes from the 50’s called X Minus One Podcast. There’s also some full broadcasts available on YouTube. I saw this from a quick internet search just now, though, so I can’t vouch for quality or anything.
Hell, give ‘em a shot. Worst thing that could happen is you turn it off after a few minutes. Or, you end up enjoying that storytelling format and discover a whole new world of entertainment. There’s some great stuff out there: The Shadow, Inner Sanctum, Suspense, I Love a Mystery, etc. And those are just the staples, the fringe stuff can be really entertaining, too.
I got very lucky and a friend shared their digital library of recordings with me. But that being said, they must have obtained digital versions from somewhere.
But I agree, the format is quite unique, and hey, if you’re looking for a DC equivalent, you owe it to yourself to listen to the “Clan of the Fiery Cross” radio episode of the Adventures of Superman radio show. Not only is it an exceptional piece of entertainment, but its historical relevance and daring risks are landmarks in pop culture doing good for society. There was a graphic novel made inspired by it, or you can cut through all that and watch the Drunk History version of events.
Try refreshing Reaganfan, or if you are using the app maybe logging out and then back in after a minute might do the trick.
Hope this helps.
Another thought I was wondering about, is there any possibility of getting the Primal Age comics added to the service? I was never able to get to Target and get any and would really like to read them, especially since I am currently reading the He-Man comics on here…
So happy about the He-Man comics I’m not sure what conditions surround the Giants, but I’ll pass the word on and make sure it gets into the conversation
I don’t post a lot… but very much enjoy lurking, and following the madness of OH every week. Just wanted to drop a note to let all of you know that I appreciate you and thank you all for the entertainment your posts give. (Including some choice music rec’s )
Macdad, oh my gosh, thank you so much!! It means so much to me that you took some time to write that beautiful message, and I’ll be happy to dig in further to your requests rolls up sleeves (And there are some pretty good music recs on here, aren’t there? Currently rabbit holing on Elvira tunes now )
While I don’t post a lot - I DO read a ton of comics. And am incredibly excited for the new status quo in Jan. Two things I’d love to see, at some point, is…
- A “mark as read” button on each comic. I know I can achieve this by opening a book and flipping to the end - but that’s a lot of tapping and swiping, when the simple click of a button could achieve it. It’s something I use quite a bit on comixology (as well as the distinguished competition’s app - but we’ll just move on…) Maybe even a way to select a bunch of issues, and then mark them all as read.
This was a big, big push before all the changes and reorganization started to descend upon us. The developers even went so far as to implement a “quick and dirty”, in the meantime function of a “progress bar” to get us part of the way there.
We plan on returning to this, and User List flexibility, when we get back to “normal” after the DCUi launch
- A way to “subscribe” to a book. I find myself reading a lot of different titles - and honestly, I can’t always keep it straight where I left off on all of them. To be able to subscribe and have the latest issues automatically be put into a list, and/or receive a notification/email telling me what my “new” books are for the week would be fantastic. Again - this is something I use a lot on comixology. But, I read more here, and feel like it would be extremely useful.
Anyhoo… thanks again for reading this - and for the laughs/smiles you all deliver.
This is a really great suggestion, and one I don’t think has been articulated before. While I can’t promise that will be an immediate feature that can be implemented (See: “Mark as Read” and “User Lists” as our frontrunners), I’ll fold this into our user feedback meetings.
Thanks again for stopping by, and I’ll remember to give you a little silent “wave” on future OH’s
Are we supposed to be getting an email about DCUI and our accounts??? If so when should we expect them???
We distributed an e-mail test a few days ago to determine the most successful “open rate” (the amount that members open their e-mails based on how tantalizing the subject line is). Now that we know which subject line caught the most attention, we’ll be sending a widespread e-mail in the very, very, VERY near future. VERY near.
Ok thanks!!! I will be on the lookout for it!!!
We distributed an e-mail test a few days ago to determine the most successful “open rate”
Ah, so it was a test. I found it to be quite like this when I saw it.
@Applejack, if you could have one guest of choice for q&a who would it be? It could be anybody.
Will ALL the DC Universe original content be available on HBO MAX? Including things like Legacy, and All Star Games?
And what about DC Daily? Those guys were freakin’ awesome
Hey Applejack. Been a while since I posted here. Hope all is well with you and yours . Here’s some questions/comments for ya:
Hi moro, nice to “see” you! You’ve got questions/comments, I’ve got answers/,…comments!
- Will this be a different app when we transition to DCU Infinite, or will it be the same, just with video content removed?
The latter- the exact same app, but with the video “turned off”. However, the design team is working hard to make it “feel” like a new experience with a fresh look. Those designs are still in an early phase, but from what I’ve seen the spirit of DCU remains.
- I don’t see Q&As with writers and artists anymore. Any chance they’re making a comeback or is that a thing of the past?
100%. My focus has shifted away from increasing engagement to organizing the history of our programs for executive leadership as well as auditing said programs for success and getting moderators trained and mobilized for organizing the forums for better searchability. The transition is a great opportunity to do some deep housekeeping. I’m thinking of it a little bit like another relaunch for the Community as I expect we’ll see many new members, and I want to make sure the place looks nice.
What a tangent! At any rate, the plan is absolutely, yes, we will have creators back on to do regular Q&As. We now consider them a tentpole and one of the big reasons the community has market value.
- What does the future hold for the DCU shop? Will it continue as part of this app? Granted I haven’t bought much from there, but was curious nonetheless.
Funny you should ask- we’re actually reworking the current shop, and you will see there is a clearance sale on right now:
[dcu-shop-sale] As you’ve no doubt heard, DC Universe will soon transform into DC Universe Infinite. As part of that transformation, the DC Universe Shop will be closing on Sunday, November 1st. So we’re having a DC Universe Shop Closeout Sale! Shop now through Monday, October 19th to save up to 80% off select items in our biggest sale ever. Among the sale items are highly coveted DC Universe exclusive collectibles – like our Harley Quinn Show Statue and our DC Artists Alley Batman by Joe L…
There will still be merchandising and product opportunities in the future, but as we snuggle up closer to DC Entertainment those initiatives will be merged to become like… a DC Voltron.
Great questions, thank you!
I’m assuming that I received the “Long Halloween” badge as a joke, considering my vocal dislike of that comic.
I would never attack you in such a way! it’s the badge that was created for any spooky activities people engage in through our Clubs for the month of October. But I can take it back so it doesn’t taunt you!
Right now I’m watching…
The Little Mermaid!
Ariel wish that she can be part of DC Universe, but Disney is not letting her!
Hi @Applejack, I asked about this once before and I believe you said you’d look into it (and if you followed up with “sorry” later I apologize for forgetting). Can we please get Supergirl (2016-) #s 41 and 42 brought onto the service sooner than the 1-year delay (or sooner than January)? They were digital-only (and #40 left Kara still infected by The Batman Who Laughs) and I’m impatient. Thanks!
Hmmm, I’m sorry if I spoke out of turn! I don’t think I’m that persuasive as to bring on content earlier than is contracted, so it may have to be a matter of patience!
