In the early issues of Justice League of America, written by Gardner Fox, he had either not done research on Martian Manhunter or thought his immense range of powers not right for the comic. As a result, his main powers were flying and super breath.

Hollywood producer Jon Peters wanted Superman to fight a giant spider in Superman Lives.

When that movie petered out, Will Smith and Kevin Kline instead fought it in Peters’ Wild Wild West.

Hawkman and Hawkwoman were originally from the planet Thanagar in the Polaris system. It has been changed to the Thanagar system. But most of the other planets still call it Polaris, which is named after their sun. I read this from the 500-page Hawkman comics, in the story about the Creature of a Thousand Shapes!

Gardner Fox was one of the only writers (if not the only writer) to work on Batman longer than Bill Finger, writing the third ever Batman story in Detective Comics and still being the main writer on both Detective Comics and Batman for about two years after Finger wrote his last issue of either.

Seal’s Kiss from a Rose song on the Batman Forever soundtrack existed before Batman Forever was released.

Joel Schumacher liked the song and thought it would fit the movie well, so he shot the movie themed video for it and it ended up on the “music from and inspired by” soundtrack.

Also regarding music in a Schumacher Batman movie…

Nearly all of Batman & Robin’s score is reused from Batman Forever. The only new music composed was minor incidental pieces and the family theme.

Never mind it was more in the silver age

John Haymes Newton played Superboy for the first season of that TV show.

Three years later in 1991, he was a foil of Vanilla Ice’s in the “movie” Cold as Ice.

*Cool as Ice.

William Moulton Marston, the creator of Wonder Woman and her Lasso of Truth, previously patented an early version of the lie detector.

WMM was held some very forward thinking views of “sexuality”, shall we say and the manifested quite clearly in early WW comics. So much so that editors really had to tone some stuff down.

Time for a 2 in 1:

  1. In promotional New 52 artwork, as well as the advance solicited images of the covers to Justice League #1 and Wonder Woman #1, Diana was seen in black leather pants similar to her then current look in The Odyssey arc of the then current volume of Wonder Woman.

This was most likely done to have readers assume the pants (with minor differences from her Odyssey look) would stick around after The New 52 began. As we’ve known for nearly eight years now, the trunks returned in place of the leather pants.

  1. Actor Phil Morris plays Silas Stone on Doom Patrol. However, he’s a veteran of many live action and animated DC productions going back to 2003. Here’s a list of his DC related credits per IMDB

Here’s one I just learned first-hand: Santa Prisca was not created for Bane’s origin. The earliest use of it I’ve seen is The Question #10 from 1987 (which, according to DC Database, is the first appearance).

He was also in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.
