The archive issues are why I have been here since this service went live in its original incarnation and I am really missing those.

The lack of archives is disgusting. The fact that a major comic publisher can’t even take the time or effort to even scan one single archive book in a month, for nearly half a year now is beyond belief. The archives are 90% of why I subscribe to this service. I’m tired of non-answers and excuses. We are paying for this services so it’s time they actually started doing what they advertised in the beginning. It may seem like I’m being a bit rude, but much less rude than their utter disregard of their customers. They can’t give us archives. They can’t fix issues that have been reported for years. They can’t fix the app so we can use landscape mode like we used to.

Not defending them as I agree I am not happy about the lack of archives. Although I am guessing it is some kind of money issue more than they can’t be argued. Don’t think it boils down to laziness.

But I do agree after half a year being told more information would come and no more information has come I have lost some patience too. As much as I love this service one of the best things was they were at least somewhat forthcoming. I realize we are not going to get complete transparency on what goes on behind the scenes nor do I expect to. But after all this time it doesn’t speak well that they won’t say anything other than “stay tuned” because I don’t think anyone is expecting more than a continues “stay tuned” after all this time.

This is especially annoying because they went from letting the fans vote on what comics to archive, then said “never mind” then said “there will be no more archives for now more information in the future” that we have never gotten.

Yeah, I’m not renewing when my subscription is up. The appeal of this service is digitized archives. I read the new books I want to read when they come out, so this is a waste of money without archive issues.

On top of that, the response—or lack thereof—regarding what’s going on with archives is genuinely insulting. DC wants my money and it’s clear that is the only thing they care about. Gross.

Anyone else seeing loading issues within the app?
For 2 weeks comics are slow too load on to the screen to read. Tech support doesn’t have answers, and google play is littered with bad reviews of the same thing.
I’ve been a member almost 2 years, this has never happened before.

I’d love to see new archive issues. But I don’t have much interest in the low quality scans that were often used.
The physical book division has a serious uptick in classic material being released later this year. The biggest deal is the roll out of the DC Finest line of Epic like collections. My hunch is that digital back catalogue will be more closely coordinated with the physical division. Hopefully, that means we’ll see high quality archive items coming back soon.

I have huge doubts about that. DC already has hundreds of books that haven’t been archived but have been placed in collected editions in print, which means digital files already exist and those aren’t being released. So I have little hope that future material collected for print is any more likely to appear in archive format here.

The lack of coordination between physical and digital in the past has been painfully obvious.
Digital archives were put on hiatus and then the classic collections dept got ramped up. Correlation is not causation, but in this instance I remain hopeful.

@kirbykamandi.23363 neither of us knows what’s happening within DC, but I’m willing to bet that they’re doing everything possible to get archives back. They’re a huge corporation; they don’t want to lose money

I think the opposite; I think they’re doing nothing to get archives back. Vague promises of an update were made months ago, but nothing came of it. This month, they finally removed the Archive key from the legend, which indicates to me they have no intention of bringing archives back.

If they had any intention or desire to bring archives back, there would be some explanation as to what is happening. Instead, they’ve dropped them completely, offered no explanation, and are hoping no one cares. What they’re banking on is people being complacent with getting less for their money, nothing else.
