If a Power Ring allows a Green Lantern to fly, provides them with shielding/protection in outer space, and when a lantern dies it goes and find a successor…Why write a storyline where Abin Sur is flying a space ship that crash landed on earth?

If it’s the dc universe, does that mean the DC is only one universe in the multiverse? Does that mean Marvel and Dynamite and Boom! Comics all have their own universe in the multiverse? And if all those companies have different heroes in their own multiverse, does that mean there are multiple multiverses? And are those multiverses all in one universe? So many questions!!!
