Regarding Archived Titles

Hey all!

I hope everyone is settled back into the swing of things after the Thanksgiving week, and are excited for the soon-to-be-here end of 2023.

I wanted to share a quick note about archived titles on DCUI. We’ve seen a handful of comments and questions over the last few weeks, and with the Thanksgiving holiday behind us, we wanted to update everyone: for the time being archived issues are temporarily paused. Just as with the last time archived issues were paused, you can expect to see archived issues return in the future. We hope to have an update to share in early 2024.

Great- since we are getting less service for our money- will we be getting a price drop? :slight_smile:

As far as I know there is not a price decrease in the roadmap, other than the various sales and promotions that drop throughout the year. That being said, DCUI still offers access to 27,000 - 32,000 titles depending on what plan you have–hope that answers your question!

I knew that wasn’t happening. I was just pointing out the fact that we are getting less value for our money.

Happy to get an update, even if it isn’t a good one. I won’t lie and say I am happy about it, but I do remember last time they were paused, DCUI was announced with more or less all the archive and a bunch of backlogged archive titles so hoping some good news is on the horizon and this is a temporary bad thing.

Also just to be clear, this is only the older archived titles? We will still be getting the weekly “new” (or one month old I guess) comics correct?

Thanks for the update. Hopefully plans are in place to have a more sustainable (and broader) archive effort in 2024. Good luck, and happy holidays!

Got to say on the plus side, the Detective Comics dropped this week was a nice little surprise.

I’m guessing Detective Comics dropped because they have the facsimile edition of the book so had everything needed to digitally add it.

Every December, archives “pause” or drastically scale back in qty. Every time, I hope that it’s because the company has decided to reassess the importance of properly investing in their legacy and plan to increase resources for proper restoration of of the backlist.

Every January, we get more scanned issues. Each January, the count of archive releases per week goes down…
