I wasn’t sure what to make of the “everyman” Cole character, and at first it seemed like it was taking itself too seriously… but I thought the FX and action were really good!

I loved the movie, just was hoping that some of the story elements were developed a little more. Other than that I really enjoyed it!

Your mash-ups are what you do best- better than all the rest?! I would love to see pictures one day, though of course I respect your privacy. But maybe I’ll see pictures of someone else who did similar concepts, though they will be decidedly less “razzzcat-y”.

You know how it is—sometimes ya just put on a tutu, weird make up and a crazy wig— spray paint yourself, and go! (That was my Bride of Frankenstein mashup costume, irl, btw) BUT sometimes there’s sewing and glue and exacto blades and foam! Just depends. I have limitations, of course. I can’t do it alone. Maybe we’ll trade someday. Never say never, Cap.

I am very excited for the pre-quel! I think George Miller proved with Fury Road that “he’s still got it”. But from what I have seen of the BTS, it took an enormous amount of time to make it to the screen, so I’m skeptical we’ll see it next year. “We’ll see”, said the blind man…

Agree. It sounds massive so I don’t expect it any time soon. We’ll see!

Admiral @Applejack (as Roy Tam said in 1994’s The Shadow, “Hey, that’s catchy.”) I’ve four queries for ya:

• 1. Justice Society: World War II (the newest direct to video animated DC flick, in case you were unaware) is out now on digital HD and 4K.

Being that it’s the very first movie to star DC’s first team, have you any interest in it (especially since Wonder Woman is a starring character, which makes the movie another cap in Diana’s 80th anniversary hat)?

Oh absolutely- I’m also interested in seeing what kind of nostalgia it kicks up around the stylization.

To commemorate the flick, I’m going to do a JSA-based binge which constitutes the following:

• Start: Curl up and re-read my favorite issues of Geoff Johns’ JSA run.

• Middle: Catch the last two or three episodes of Stargirl, which I still have yet to see.

• End: See Justice Society: World War II. I find that will be the tasty strawberry on top of my JSA pie and a worthwhile conclusion to what sounds like a fun JSA binge.

This would be a worthy recommendation for the jsa-book-club ! This really sounds like a fun night of some of the criminally underused characters of DC.

• 2. Have you checked out the Infinite Frontier run on Nightwing yet?

Being a big Nightwing guy myself, I’m loving it so far, with Nightwing being my favorite Batman-related Infinite Frontier read thus far. Tom Taylor has the goods on Mr. Grayson. Speaking of Tom Taylor, I can’t wait for Superman: Son of Kal-El in July. I’m thinking that “Tom Taylor + Superman” will equate to one badass Superman tale/series.

Oh my gosh YAS! Infinite Frontier really knocked it out of the park across the board, but I agree Nightwing is especially standing out.

• Noodles and 'taters (aka query #3). I’m kicking around the idea of changing my DCUI name. Any suggestions on a new nom de guerre?

I did actually change it to Max Faraday a few months ago. It was only for a few minutes though, as I didn’t feel like re-educating folks on the name change and that “Vroom” then equaled “Max Faraday”, so I changed it back to my current Onomatopoeia-Approved™ handle.

Maybe…looks at hair dryer Max Power? Yes…that could work…

So, a name change. To it, do you say “Woohoo!” or “Uh-oh, Spaghettios!”?

Ooooh, a momentous occasion! I notice you haven’t done your trademark avatar update lately, Yara has been gracing us with her brilliant power for quite some time now.

Hmm… I myself feel rather committed to Applejack because it serves a function to keep continuity, but MaxPower is pretty hilarious. I will say that when I think of your interests, I think of toys, action figures, and collectibles, Wildstorm, Superman, and the obvious Justice League. Not sure if that helps at all.

• Cookies IV: The Voyage Home (aka the fourth query). I remember there being “What’s Coming to and Leaving HBO Max” threads in the Watchtower earlier in the year, but I haven’t seen a thread of that nature for this month or May.

Are those threads still going to be posted in the Watchtower on a continued basis as they once were? They were quite helpful in being able to find a fixed list of new and leaving DC content on that service (as opposed to skimming various “going and coming” lists elsewhere online that listed everything coming/going to HBO Max).

It’s true, we’ve slipped on that

We would like to get back to that, but sadly other matters have deterred our focus.

It’s good to know those were helpful, it’s useful to bring them back to priority!

Unparalleled @Applejack! I am rushing to inform you that last night’s Crew WAL was super successful with nearly 900 posts, but also from a technical standpoint it felt pretty fluid to me. Personally, I did not experience many freeze-ups, there were a few minor times when I would refresh the page more so out of habit and one new comment would pop up, or sometimes I would get an error 429, I believe, when I was liking things too aggressively!

FREE AT LAST!! Thank you so much for letting me know, and I regret having to miss the WAL- Batman & Robin WALs are some of the best events in town. But it sounds like it was a great success with some small exceptions. Thank the globs! The 429 error is a bit of a ghost I’m chasing, because I can’t ever seem to replicate it the same way twice.

Speaking of aggressively liking things! I have discovered a new obsession that I’m anxious to share with y’all. Does anyone speak German? Well, I recently discovered this German series of family films about a young girl and a horse and it’s incredibly sweet and wholesome! It’s called Windstorm (Ostwind in German). There are four movies out now, with a fifth and final one in this epic saga due out this year (was supposed to come out in 2020, but… Q-tine).

I don’t speak German but I’m not afraid of subtitles- I just watched the first trailer you shared, thank you so much! Not sure if this is accurate, but this makes me feel like I would enjoy it because of how in love I fell with “Anne With An ‘E’”.

So it’s a trio of movies? So weird the second one is wandering around out there somewhere on its lonesome.
