If it’s a good story and you like it, recommend it. That’s all that matters. It can certainly be enjoyed differently by knowing that Superman is different than “canon” Superman, but you can run down the “read this first to understand it better” rabbit hole all day with any DC comic and never read anything as a result. And frankly just by cultural osmosis, that Superman is different is pretty obvious.
