I’m a bit surprised people like the theatrical cut of that; the extend I could understand because you can understand the movie a bit better

The rollout is impressive, and there are far more comics than before. Sadly, there are still gaps in the post crisis era that I want, but I realize rebirth and now post DM will be the focus.

The layout is much better, I like that I can see the pub dates from the thumbnail in searching. So, I know that I am a broken drum on reading by pub date, but the search by date range feature is still broken, and I cannot fathom why.

The publishing dates are all listed in the database as they are showing on the comic details pages. Why is this not being accurately used for date searching?

For example, I checked comic solicits via CBR for June 2019 and compared it to the information available in DCUI. I used a modern era to ensure that you have most of the comics loaded, and you do have an excellent collection of 42 issues released in June 2019 available.

I manually looked up each comic to ensure that all the dates were accurate to the solict dates and showing on the comic details pages, and that was all accurate. Now, out of the 42 issues, when I search for all comics from 06/01/2019 - 06/30/19, only 3 issues return!

This makes following comics by month incredibly tedious. I had really hoped that this issue would be fixed with the launch of DCUI. Will this ever be fixed?

I had put a hold on manually editing my own excel sheet due to the sheer number of the comics, but I am afraid that this will be my only option to get a true monthly reading list together.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, I’ve taken all of this information you’ve provided and sent it up to the team for further review.

I will confirm that some older comics have their cover date listed as their publication date.
I just use Mike’s Amazing World to see what came out when.

A lot of that has to do with the changes to publishing date counting in the late 70s and 90s.

All the pub dates prior to 1978-1980 are based on the first Tuesday of the month that they came out.

An example:

Legion of Super-Heroes #259 is listed as January 2, 1980.

Legion of Super-Heroes #259

But it was actually released October 25, 1979.

Info for Legion of Super-Heroes #259

January 1980 is the cover date. Which has been traditionally two to three months after the actual publication date. (Presumably so magazines wouldn’t look out of date shortly after hitting the stands.)

This wiki article has the following:

Cover date - Wikipedia

"The general practice of most mainstream comic book companies since the creation of the comic book in the 1930s was to date individual issues by putting the name of a month (and much later the year as well) on the cover which was generally two months after the release date. For example, a 1951 issue of Superman which had the cover date of July would have been published two months earlier from that date in the month of May, generally speaking. In 1973 the discrepancy between the cover date and the publishing date went from two months to three months.[2] In 1989 the cover date and publishing date discrepancy was changed back to two months, though generally each comic book company now uses its own system.

Of the two major American comic book publishers, DC Comics continues to put cover dates on the cover. Marvel Comics opted against putting cover dates on the cover in October 1999; instead, the “cover” date was moved to the indicia on an interior page."

This all appears to be complicated by the fact that the pre-1970 dates here on DCUI, may not be publishing date, but cover date, since all dates are for the 1st Tuesday in a given month.

I am new to it but I think that it is good so far. I like how DC Universe Infinite has a community where other comics services have communities but not a dedicated one on the site.

Yeah, that’s pretty much why I use (and recommend) Mike’s Amazing World to see what came out on a specific month or week.

I’ve been reading Preacher since it got here. It’s weird. I’m mostly wondering when we will have the missing issues of Mike Grell’s Green Arrow run on here. Outside of that I like this. I am excited to have unlimited access to Hellblazer though. My only question really is why they are releasing everything that they promised over time instead of all at once. That kinda defeats the purpose of having me excited and having to wait a few months just for the update to get here and it be missing a bunch of Vertigo content. I don’t know. Maybe it’ll all get added soon.

I would love it if you could browse by year/release date. If you could see year by year what releases are available

Thanks for the request, @scowor.9849! I’ve added it to our list.

Are you familiar with Vertigo’s “Fables”?

Too bad, it has a good concept, I hope it comes here

I love the way Storylines are supported on the new site with all the issues for a storyline in one place (Flashpoint).

Flashpoint is not one of their better ideas to me
