My friends and I have been debating how the DCEU movies stack up against each other, and I’m curious what you guys think. Mine is as follows from best to worst:
Wonder Woman
Aquaman
Man of Steel
Justice League
Suicide Squad/Batman v Superman Director’s Cut
BvS Theatrical Cut
I must admit though that I really enjoy BvS. It’s such a pretentious disaster, and I love it.
I rewatch all of them and they all have pros and cons. But here’s my ranking of favorites. *Note: just because something is on the bottom of my list does not mean I hated it, it’s just not my favorite.
nice list-so I don’t count Joker as it feels like in a complete different genre, while the others could all be considered action movie it struck me as more social commentary, so I’d rate it differently.
1.wonder woman
2Birds of Prey-if they hadn’t messed up Cass this would be number 1
3. Shazam
4Aquaman–the amber heard stuff just brings it down a ranking for me
Snyder cut- i dislike his style, a lot. but i enjoy the story
WW1984
BVS-memes aside it is a decent movie even if it is 80% set up
suicide squad-this movie is most enjoyable with a skip button and if you have the flu
Justice league-Wheadon edition-boring and uncomfortable use of charcters
MoS-may be better than the last two but I could never even get myself interested enough to watch it
I define the DCEU as any major DC film released starting in 2013. And by major, I mean in terms of publicity and marketing, or at least that is part of how I define it. So while that unfortunately won’t include animated films, it does include Joker and will continue similar DC films like it. It works because they said they want to take a multiverse approach with their films anyway
1.Wonder Woman
2.Man of Steel
3.Suicide Squad
4.WW84
5.Batman v Superman
side-note: just from clips I’ve seen of Shazam looks like a fun movie so maybe that’d go in #2 or #1. MoS, Suicide Squad, WW84 ‘might’ be interchangeable, not sure. Only seen each one once and besides Wonder Woman 1 no real desire to rewatch any of em’.
I didn’t rank the theatrical cut of Justice League, but I’d put it right below James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. I should also note that the films in slots 6-9 are almost interchangeable. They all disappoint me in some way, but none of them anger me as much as Man of Steel does.
