Want to chat about all of being Super and this seems like the right thread to do it.
First time ready this. And it was great. It my first time with anything super but always up for different takes.
First off with the art it is great. Joelle Jones kills it again with some great art for this.
He story was. A nice new take on Karas origins. Being younger when she left krypton was interesting only giving her faint memories of krypton. One thing I like of her is she knows what she lost which I enjoyed seeing in the rebirth run. But this take did it very well.
Her friend group was nice full of supportive and fun people which was. Nice. The death came out of know where which and her friendship with Dolly was very nice.
The story itself was very season one of a TV series to me. Slower with a big mystery that all comes together with surprises in the end. Interring Tan-on a new Kryptonian to show a different point of view and inspire Kara to super. Then the end with meeting Supes was great. No words needed and the seem was intense. Ultimately felt like a set up for more and left it open for interpretation as well. I would like more but fine it this is it.
The big decision
Any Reboot of Supergirl
Has to decide is
What Age was she
When she landed on Earth?
The older she was
The more technology she knows
The harder it is
To have a secure
Secret identity
Whether she has a alter ego at all
Earth 2 Powet Girl / Supergirl (New 52) was about 6
Same as in
Supergirl Being Super.
She was raised by
Clark and Lois Kent
TV Supergirl maybe 13
New 52 Supergirl 18?
Batman / Superman
Supergirl maybe 16
I remember Lana Lang
Provided her an identity
As a Lang in one series
Rebirth was an attempt
To join
TV Supergirl
With High School
And the Danvers
Being Agents, not Scientists.
That series failed
Mainly because of its Villains
Especially her father
As a Cyborg.
I think
Most origins today
Have the Supergirls
Sent the same time
As Kal el
As Krypton explodes
But somehow
Delayed and
In Suspended Animation
They were intended to
Take care of Kal el
As he grew up.
That makes
It hard for them
To be sent at 6
When she can’t
Even take care of herself.
At any age
If Superman is involved
She is
The ‘sole survivor’ of a disaster
That
Plus maybe
Some Batman hacking
Of Birth certificate files
Are enough to
Supply a valid alter ego
If the writer want one.
The Rebirth approach
Was that Kara
Was known
to the government
And handled by the Danvers
The earlier Kara arrives
The less Kryptonian she is
The less she knows her parents and friends
The less trauma she has
The less angry she is
(Part of that is just being
A teenager rather than a 6 year old)
I think the
Creators of
Supergirl Being Super
Made the right choice
With her coming to Earth
At age 6
It really intergrates her
Into her Community.
But it is not the
Typical Approach.
For one thing
It skips
'What is this shopping
That girls my age
Seem so found of?"
Which writers love to show
(And it reduces the trauma part of her origin)
