I’m sure this is the place where I can finally have a discussion on words frequently used in comics since the
golden age. Which ones have u noticed? I’ll start off with a few. Luddite, Prattle, Dolt, the phrase “so much” as in
he got hit with so much slag. Harpie, criminals are a superstitious and cowardly lot. Which ones have u noticed?

@DeSade i believe “shway” first appeared in Batman Beyond (animated).
Teen Titans (1966) had “check” which was used an affirmation on whatever was being said. Agreement on a thought or following through on battle orders.
I’ve always been a fan of “nuff said”, but i believe that’s strictly Marvel.

I find that characters in comics use “whom” and “whomever” in dialogue, which I know is grammatically correct (i.e. “to whom?”), but it feels really unnatural and clunky.

You are correct. “Shway” appears in Batman Beyond episode 3. (I need to go back and re-watch episodes 1 & 2, just to confirm that it was episode 3 for the first instance of its use.

“Cacophony” is used all the time. I know it’s a Batman title too, but they use that word a lot.
