“Great Scott!” That exclamation is on a slew of Silver Age Mort Weisinger Superman family book covers in the early sixties. There’s a run of it on World Finest covers from #'s 105 to 118. At some point, someone at DC must have pointed this out to Mort and said ease up on this. Of course, on the very next cover (World’s Finest #119) someone on the street is shouting “Great Guns!” So much for turning a phrase.

One of the most amusing is “citizen”, which came to fame in Batman ‘66. It has been used as a throwback in recent years. Most notably in CW Supergirl.

If u ever noticed. Almost every single time someone is falling, the hero will yell “go limp” b4 catching them.
