Hawkgirl was the first superhero I ever liked, and remains my favorite to this day. (I was sold after she beat the crap out of the lantern core in JL: Blackest Night. I was probably 7 or 8.) Coming back as an adult, I still love the character. I love her fire, her whit, and her deeper compassion and steadfast loyalty. But at they end of the day, she’s someone who genuinely believes in helping those who cannot defend themselves, no matter the personal cost.
