Tony Daniel's Run On New 52's DETECTIVE COMICS

First off, you’ve got the exquisite penciling from Tony Daniel. The story was an all-out noir fest (assassinations, underworld, etc). Perhaps narratively on the convuluted side, though that’s not always a bad thing for me. The nature of a comics schedule lends itself to creative messiness along the way. In the end, I did follow along for those 12 issues and have gone back to do it again a couple of times since.

By far my favorite run of New 52 'Tec. Beautiful stuff all around.

Tony Daniel can do no wrong IMO.

@Vroom It embodied the old-fashioned sluething and villanous elements, which were reflective of how the original Detective Comics felt to me, though certainly with a modern surface sheen.

Agreed on all points.

Going to the art, the splash page that introduced Batman in #1 was great. That’s how you introduce Batman =)
