Suggestions on good old classic comics.
I recommend starting with one of my favorite one shot stories, Superman Annual (1960-) #11, “For the Man Who Has Everything.”

Check out the Steve Englehart/Marshall Rogers “Detective Comics” run. #469-475. I think most of it is available here on DCU.

Jerm got it in one. Those comics DEFINE timeless. Done in the 70s, with a feel of the 40s, able to be enjoyed today. Good call.
