The first 'Joker'

Back in 1928 there was a Silent movie called, ‘The Man who laughs’ Starring Conrad Veidt and Mary Philbin. This was the movie that inspired Bob Kane, Bill Finger and Jerry Robinson to create the Joker!
The Man who laugh is based on a novel by Victor Hugo who also wrote The Hunchback of Notre dame and Les Misérables.
In the story the man with a big grin name is Gwendolyn and he’s a good guy. The movie is really good, it’s hard not to think of the Joker when watching this film.

That film is a masterpiece. I really enjoy films from that era and that stands among the best of them and it obviously spawned one of the greatest comic book villains of all time. But you already knew that
