The Best Joker Quote is One He Didn't Say

When trying to select the best quote that sums up what makes the Clown Prince of Crime who he is, the knee jerk reaction is to select something from the Killing Joke (rightfully so, it’s amazing). But I’ve always liked one from Shadow of the Bat #37 by Alan Grant and Barry Kitson-

In an issue that Joker doesn’t appear in. The issue follows a bounty hunter by the name of Wild on the hunt for the Joker. To that end, he’s given the Joker’s file from Arkham by Jeremiah Arkham. We see pages from it throughout the story, like this one-

But neither of those are the quote I’m talking about. It’s this one, that he wrote on a piece of paper while at Arkham Asylum.

"In my dream the world had suffered a terrible disaster. A black haze shut out the sun and the darkness was alive with the moans and screams of wounded people.
Suddenly, a small light glowed. A candle flickered into life, symbol of hope for millions. A single tiny candle, shining in the ugly dark.

I laughed, and blew it out…"
