Set The Mood: Harley & Ivy

Happy Tuesday!

Ever since the 4th issue of the Harley Quinn: The Animated Series: The Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour came to DCUI last week, I’ve been thinking a lot about Harley and Ivy’s relationship. They’re an item I always wanted to come into fruition since I was a teen, so I’ve been REALLY digging all the comics that have dipped into their relationship these past couple years. The art and dialogue in the Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour is just so especially interactive that I can’t help but make it a fave.

So! Let’s celebrate that. A Harley/Ivy (Harlivy? Ively?) thread!

Hold up, Static. What the heck is a moodboard?
Putting it simply, moodboards are a series of graphics that are used as a way of capturing the atmosphere surrounding a particular subject to briefly immerse the viewer into the “mood” of said subject. Kind of like collages! Which is why there’s no right or wrong way to make one. You could make one entirely out of relevant quotes, or organize one by a certain color palette, or just fill it up with pics of things that represent the subject point-blank. It’s your board!

How do I make a moodboard? How do I post it here?
Personally, I find the easiest way to make moodboards is through Pinterest. For those who aren’t familiar with the site, it’s a hub for images/videos that can be added to “boards” you create based on personal interests or whatever you’re particularly searching for. Many people use it for the sole purpose of creating moodboards, so there’s plenty of stuff to work with there if you’re not inclined to create one from scratch.

That said, you’re also free to make one through any editing program if you don’t wanna go about making a whole Pinterest account! Just paste the graphic(s) here as you would any other image. If you’re doing a Pinterest board, feel free to drop the link to it, or provide a preview screenshot!

And finally, for those who don’t wanna do either of those things but still want to participate, you’re more than welcome to create a moodboard of your own here by posting any pictures you may find relevant and just sort of talking about your thought process on them. (Ex. post a photo of masks and talk about how that may relate to “Crazy” Jane.) Otherwise, feel free to just openly discuss your thoughts on the topic at hand.

As always, remember to keep all contents of this thread respective of the Forum Guidelines. This includes doing your civil duties to keep a check on profanity, keep things SFW, and remain respectful towards one another’s work. For now, let’s also stick to posting ONE BOARD PER PERSON (PER TOPIC)!

The HQAS series.

Connecting with Queen @Razzzcat Mighty @Mae @Hiraeth @iJest @ejdias.95910 @TheCosmicMoth @millernumber1 @arkhamassassin @NCharles39 and all of the other amaze peeps of because of HQAS.

Getting to watch Harls’ and Ives’ friendship grow into a true and solid romance during the series.

I’ve been watching/reading these two ever since the BTAS premiered all the way back in 1992 and have loved every single minute of their togetherness. Such a super fun and wild ride with much more to come!

I’m with you on that too. It’s been a long time coming, and I’m SO GLAD to see them thriving now.

AND THIS! IS! AMAZING!!! You nailed the color scheme and that COMBINED AESTHETIC. So good!

For me, it helped me realize I was wrong about the direction Harley was going in.

I remember disliking that her popularity was turning her into an anti-hero, and that she was distancing herself from the Joker. Years ago me thought that while it was sad that she had shown a stubborn refusal to leave the Joker, bad example characters were important to remind you what you never want to end up like.

But like I said, that was mistaken. Never changing her for the better means showing no growth, when there had always been seeds of good sprinkled throughout her many appearances: you could tell she wasn’t fully on-board with what Joker was doing. Those seeds just needed watering (pun intended ).

It’s been great seeing her and Ivy (who also at least had good intentions) blossom as a couple, as anti heroes, and one day as full fledged members of the Justice League (mark my words).
