I am trying to understand why DC Comics is changing its direction
On first glance it makes no sense
Untapped Potential Audiences
A teenager or young adult sees a DC movie in a theatre or by streaming.
Or they see the characters on CW
Kids ask their parents where they can get comics based on the cartoons they see on TV.
When they try to find comic books
they are hard to find
Only Bookstores with trades or Young Novel versions.
Or
Local Comic Book stores which are unfriendly to knowledgeable new customers
If they do find a comic book.with the character they loved
They find
Location not convenient to go back to
No help in finding what they want
Next issue may be sold out or not ordered in sufficient quantity because comics non returnable
High.prices
Sophisticated artwork hard to appreciate at first
Hard to read often
Red words on.black background like Batman who laughs
Stories hard to understand without prior knowledge
Stories that go on and on
Not based at all on the characters they loved in the videos.
So the solution.is to
Ditch the characters that the consumers know and love?
Replace them with new versions?
Why is the new timeline saying
Superman.was born in 1938
Steve Trevor landed on Themyscira the same year
The parent of Batman were murdered in the early 1950s
Just so
everything happened ?
All comic books are canon?
Why is AT&T / Warner Brothers allowing this?
Hint cut costs dramatically and increase profits by going heavily to reprints and higher priced products
Upper Management understands that the Intellectual property of Marvel.and DC comics is worth billions. But it is hard to make revenue out of it.
That is why
There will be comics based on highlights of each era causing interest in intellectual property not currently producing revenue.
I am beginning to think that Upper Management has given an ultimatum to DC
Gain audience even at on a short term basis. No company plans long range anymore.

When it fails it is an excuse to cut number of titles with excuse that they tried but fans too rigid

What happens when new Batman movie comes out
And potential new readers go looking for cheap titles with Bruce Wayne as Batman
Rest of Ultimatum
Cut costs while maintaining copyrights and trademarks
With
Cutting titles
Reprints such as
Trades
Giants
Dollar Comics
To allow higher prices
Increase
Black.Label for older readers
Young Adult Graphic Nobel as a gateway for younger readers.
These new product lines share
non monthly schedules
Top or Famous Non Comics talents
Long shelf life
Not tied to continuity
Not available on.DC UNIVERSE
So if non fan is looking for material
On.the new Superman CW Show with Clark.Lois and young boys
Only recourse is
Trades of
Superman Lois and Clark
Superman 2016
Super Sons
Or
DO UNIVERSE
That is why DC Comics president Lee says this site is so important
Didio is fighting at least some of this because his job depends on original content produced regularly in traditional non digital.format, even though the high individual price of these comics is unsustainable
