One-Shots Book Club Week 1: Superman (1939-) #76

Discussion Questions:

  1. I liked the team-up story. It was a fun, Silver Age romp. The other stories in the issue ranged from okay to something that editorial seemingly mandated just to have the issue meet its standard page quota. It haapened then, and still does in the Modern Age too.

  2. I think the affect this team-up had was important as it set the stage for how to have two major characters meet, learn each other’s identities and learn how to work together to accomplish mutual goals. It’s a classic team-up of classic characters that set a classic standard.

I think the affect this issue’s team-up would have on future Superman and Batman team-ups is that writers would use it as a guiding point.

A writer may think “Well, they did this in that book, so what I can do is this but then deviate from that to get to where I want my story to be.” Y’dig?

  1. Rating: 10 for its importance in comic history, while the writing would rate oh…a six. Yeah, six is good.

Good pick =)
