Not-so-brief description from dc.com: Scott Free wants nothing more than to leave Apokolips for planet Earth, and he knows exactly how to do it. But his plan never involved falling in love with the head of the Female Furies, Big Barda—the one person tasked with ensuring he never escapes. From Varian Johnson, the author of the Coretta Scott King Author Honor book The Parker Inheritance, and Afrofuturist artist Daniel Isles (a.k.a. DirtyRobot) comes the story of an escape plan that will take a miracle to pull off. Luckily for Scott, everyone calls him Mister Miracle! Okay, no one calls him that…yet.
Now that that’s over with, here are some discussion questions:
- In the final portion of the story, we find out Scott is actually nobility. Do you think Scott cares about this? Explain.
- Do you think Granny Goodness was being honest about telling Scott his origins when he was escaping? Why or why not?
- Do you think Big Barda liked Scott Free during their first few dates, or do you think it was all lies? Explain.
- Did you like the change of Bekka’s origin (from being a New God to being a human on Apokolips)? Why or why not?
- Did you expect Himon’s death? Did you think it was smart of the author (Varian Johnson) to do that? Did you think it helped the story at all? Explain your answers.
