Description taken from dc.fandom.com: Andrew Bennett is a 16th Century vampire who hunts other vampires. Despite having supernatural strengths and weaknesses, he is able to resist the bloodlust to feed on humans. His immortal life is dedicated to hunting down his former lover Mary, Queen of Blood.

With that out of the way, here are some discussion questions:

1. Throughout this series, we see how vampires are portrayed different from traditional media. What kind of liberties does I, Vampire take in depicting vampires?

Such a shame that this book is even allowed to be considered obscure. By far one of the best launch titles of the New 52, even if it constantly flew under the radar. I’m always a sucker for Sorrentino’s art, but even without it this title would still be incredible.

While it takes a few issues to fully understand the setting and stakes of the series, it quickly picks up speed resulting in it being the first crossover of the New 52 with Rise of the Vampires.

One of the best aspects of this series is the moral greyness of all the characters. You have ‘villains’ and ‘heroes’ swapping roles constantly. There are characters who are motivated by revenge, loyalty, survival, love, and so much more. The choices made are never the obviously right ones, just the ones that they have available.

It’s conflicting though, as I see these strengths not inherent to the characters, but to the sheer talent of the storytellers. If Andrew Bennett were to get another starring role one day, I can only hope that it’s done with the complexity and skill that Fialkov and Sorrentino brought to this title.
