New here to any story lines. where should I start with Batman? Any suggestions?

I wanted to start reading comics again and signed up to the DC Universe, but now since there are a huge amount of comics here I am lost on where to start. Any suggestions?

Also Batman (1940) #635 - 650. The Under the Red Hood arc. Also very good!

The following three arcs are one gigantic story that is one of the more popular arcs in the Batman history:

Knightfall

Hush is definitely a good starting point. It’s Batman (1940) #608-618 or something like that, and is a well-written, self-contained story that deals with a lot of the rogues gallery, supporting cast, and backstory. Knightfall/Knightquest/Knightsend is one of my favorite stories, but it’s a bit of an acquired taste. I don’t have a collection link, but if you can hunt down a reading order, Batman: No Man’s Land is another good mega-story like Knightfall that’s been collected on here. Under the Red Hood is an important story, but has kind of clunky dialogue and gets a little confusing because it ties into other random stuff that was going on in the DCU at the time. You might be better off watching the animated movie, honestly. They share a writer, but the animated version is cleaned up a little from the original comic story arc. If you’re looking for something more old school, Detective Comics (1937) #471-476 is a classic arc.

Starting with the Bat lets you get in pretty much at any point. Rebirth is a great starting point as is the start of the New 52 run, especially for folks recently getting into his stories. If you’re as hooked as most fans get to his comics, his library is huge too so look forward to that!

Check out the DC Database Wiki. It provides a synopsis of major events and key issues. Your best bet would be to follow Batman. He is an integral part of DC Comics.

I would start with Zero Yearas it is currently his canon origin and the Jokers as well. Its also one helluva story and one of the all time great Riddler arcs.

Year one and then the Long Halloween is where I would start if I was reading again for the first time
