While I do think your criticisms are valid, I also found the book incredibly enjoyable. It’s ridiculous and it’s got huge ideas and that’s why I think it’s great fun, even if perhaps on a technical level it doesn’t work.

I can see how people enjoy it. I guess if I had to give it a thumbs up or thumbs down, I’d probably go thumbs down, but that’s hard to say because the spectacle is so good, and there are great moments, but overall, the story did very little for me.

I didn’t really care for it myself. I thought the one-shots were surprisingly good, but the event itself was hard to follow, imo. I know it’s kind of steeped in continuity, but it just jumped all over the place constantly and there was very little time to absorb what was happening. I’m still not entirely sure what’s going on for the most part. I could probably tell you the highlights (Evil Batmen, something called Barbatos is there, Dark Universe exists), but the actual mechanism of any of it was almost completely lost on me.
