The first card: THE PRIESTESS. This is ICE, the dormant goddess who knows not yet the scope of her power.
The second: TEMPERANCE. This is BLUE BEETLE, whose capacity for empathy tamed a world conquering beast clasped upon the border of magic and science.
The third: THE SUN. This is LIGHTRAY, fastest and brightest of the New Gods. A beacon of hope and joy to New Genesis in even their darkest hour. At every turn, he outruns Death itself.
The fourth: THE WORLD. This is DOVE, second to bear the mantle, rarely seen without her partner. Dawn Granger would never describe herself as someone capable of moving mountains, or saving a planet. But with the hand of Destiny to guide her, this Dove may yet realize her foreseen potential as the world’s Avatar of Peace.
And finally, the fifth: THE TOWER. This is DAMAGE, oft-forgotten son of a Golden Age hero. Wracked by tragedy and trauma, his star has faded since his Zero Hour. And yet, the cards suggest the time will soon come when it will all come down to him to become the spark which reignites the flame.
Most of these five heroes, guided by Xanadu, have not worked together long, or even met before. Some have never been tested on the scope of the grand, terrible trials which await them. Others have been torn apart from the heroes and support they rely on most, left to discover their own individual place for the first time. And yet… if the cards are right. It will be these six icons who will ultimately save the universe from all the darkness to come.
