Well, I’d argue that Carol herself hasn’t been a villain, while Star Sapphire has. All the villainous depictions I can think of were from the Star Sapphire taking over or (I think) manifesting separately. Carol wasn’t in control and often didn’t remember Star Sapphire’s actions, although the reverse didn’t seem true.
