I Am The Night, I Am The Batman

A winter’s night,
In a darkened Gotham City
I am alone
Gazing from my gargoyle
To the streets below
Tonight I see The Penguin is my foe
I am the night,
I am the Batman

I’ve dug a hole,
A Batcave deep and mighty
That none may penetrate
I have no need of sidekicks,
sidekicks cause me pain
It’s Robin and it’s Batgirl I disdain
I am the night,
I am the Batman

Don’t talk of family,
I’ve known family before
They’re sleeping in Crime Alley
I’ve sworn a solemn oath to
my parents who have died,
It’s vengeance and it’s justice by my side
I am the night,
I am the Batman

I have my belts,
And my Batmobile to protect me
I am shielded in my armor
Hiding in my cowl, safe within my scowl,
They’re superstitious and they’re cowardly
I am the night,
I am the Batman

And the night feels no pain.
And the Batman never cries.

He’s not a rock or an island, though. That’s Black Adam and the Center, respectively.
