I feel the best way to do female empowerment is to just write girls doing cool things without lingering on the moment. THAT’S how you eventually normalize it. The CW is absolutely terrible at this. I was watching season 4 of Flash a few days ago, when

Jay Garrick says he’s going back to his Earth to train a new Flash, and he says something like “I’m going to train her.”
Instead of just letting that be a nice little moment in itself, the writers just HAD to have Iris go “Her??” As if the writers are saying, “Hey, did you hear that, audience?! We said ‘her’! Did you hear that?! The new Flash is a girl!!” That type of “empowerment” just comes off as so cringey and artificial.
