Comix Rant: digital inking over The Phantom Stranger #34 cover

I really liked these Phantom Stranger books when I was a kid. I liked how DC had these backup short stories and in this issue was one with Doctor Thirteen. The main story was drawn by Gerry Talaoc whose artwork has been something I still really love to this day.

This was a very memorable cover to me but I didn’t realize until I inked it that it was done by the great Jim Aparo! I really liked the way this was composed, very clear and striking.

Here’s are the inks and pencils that I did for it.

And some close ups:

I really loved finding my old comics from when I was a kid, and I’m really learning a lot from the greats as I go over their work in this way.
