The super-spectaculars were a rousing success… that price hike from 50 to 60 cents was a cash grab to please the corporate masters upstairs-- who eventually decided to take some of that paper allotment away from national perodical-- even though they made the deals for it-- and those same corporate masters wanted another price hike, and claimed 65 cents would look stupid— they wanted 75. DC instead dropped the price to 50 cents and did smaller books, and raised the price of regular comics to appease the overlords.
