I’m very excited in principle about the news. That said, I canceled my Marvel Unlimited subscription a few weeks ago to focus on DC stuff. Once the Doom Patrol show ends, I’ll probably take a break from DCU for a month or two and get caught up on Marvel Unlimited stuff. In the meantime, I’ll continue to buy exactly the same number of physical comics as I would have otherwise.

From all the data I’ve seen over the years, digital sales do not hurt physical sales in a meaningful way, and while digital sales numbers are not as transparent as physical ones, the accepted wisdom is that an issue of a comic immediately becomes essentially dead stock a month or less after it’s released. If adding the digital library 12 months after release brings on more subscribers and gets more people excited about comics, it’s a win for everyone.
