Nostalgia played a big role for this playlist. They most certainly aren’t era appropriate but I love listening to them whenever I reread this run.
Enchantress/June Moone
I always wanted to see her as a superhero more often. These songs inspire that mindset.
So, I was listening to some music earlier this week, and I heard Anthem Part Two by Blink-182, and I was listening to the lyrics it really made me think about all the young heroes in DC, and how some of them may have chosen to be a hero, but many just gotten dragged into it because of their situation or abilities, whether or not that was the plan they had for their lives. And I was also thinking about how many of these kids and teenagers start their lives as heros (or even in some cases, as villains) from such a young age that they grow up to try and distance themselves from the people that encouraged them to put on a costume as a kid. So, these are a few songs that I think fits with all those characters that became heros/villians from young ages.
Anthem/ blink-182
“Everything has fallen to pieces
The Earth is dying, help me Jesus
We need guidance, we’ve been misled
Young and hostile but not stupid
Corporate leaders, politicians
Kids can’t vote, adults elect them
Laws that rule the school and workplace
Signs that caution sixteen’s unsafe
We really need to see this through
We never wanted to be abused
We’ll never give up, it’s no use
If we’re f***** up, you’re to blame
Let this train wreck burn more slowly
Kids are victims in this story
Drown the youth with useless warnings
Teenage rules, they’re f***** and boring
We really need to see this through
We never wanted to be abused
We’ll never give up, it’s no use
If we’re f***** up, you’re to blame”
Carousel/ blink-182
“Here I am standing on my own
Not a motion from the telephone
I know not a reason why
Solitude’s a reason to die
Just you wait and see
As school life is a, it is a woken dream
Aren’t you feeling alone?
I guess it’s just another
I guess it’s just another
I guess it’s just another night alone
Now as I walk down the street
I need a job just to sleep in sheets
Buying food every once in a while
But not enough to purchase a smile
A tank of gas is a treasure to me
I know now that nothing is free
I talk to you every now and then
I never felt so alone again”
I Am Not a Robot/ MARIANA
“You’ve been acting awful tough lately
Smoking a lot of cigarettes lately
But inside, you’re just a little baby, oh
It’s okay to say you’ve got a weak spot
You don’t always have to be on top
Better to be hated
Than loved, loved, loved for what you’re not
You’re vulnerable, you’re vulnerable
You are not a robot
You’re loveable, so loveable
But you’re just trouble
You’ve been hanging with the unloved kids
Who you never really liked and you never trusted
But you are so magnetic, you pick up all the pins
Never committing to anything
You don’t pick up the phone when it ring, ring, rings
Don’t be so pathetic, just open up and sing”
And now I am going to make a post about songs with TimKon energy because no one will stop me and that is just how it is going to be.
Teenager In Love/ Neon Trees
“There was a point of no return
And I never looked back 'til I was holding your hand
I was socially absurd
But who cares
Yeah I’ve been shaky with withdrawals
I’m a junkie loser, I never would choose to
Live the way I do
But I do
I’ll be your angel
I’ll be your best friend
Take me to New York
Take me to heaven
He’s a teen, a teenager in love
He’s a teen, a teenager in love
What a tragic attraction
What’s the point of romance
He’s a teen, a teenager in love
I’m a fool with a curse and a crush
What a magic distraction
What’s the point of romance
I never wanted to be a teenager in love
Teenager, teenager
There was a point when we were cool
And it never went bad 'til you were holding his hand
And I couldn’t say a word
But who cares
Now I’ve been talking to myself
Making up a new plan on how to get you back
It’ll probably never work
And I’m screwed”
Under The Bleachers/ andie schoen
“We were always a little weird
Our story was never normal
There’s something about both of us
Our plotline’s not conventional
I always wanted my life to be a movie
With me as the main character
But everything turned out so strange
Happily, crazily, ever after
I wish we could be more
Under the bleachers
Secret admirer, notes in your locker
Longing looks across the hallway
Complimenting our sneakers
There is no screen to be seen by a spector
No cameras, no director
I always wanted that cliche
Of high-school sweethearts pining
But the gods of fate have decided to
Have horrible, awful, terrible timing
Our circumstances messed it up
Our brains are not the best
I wish that we could come of age
The same way as the rest
I wish we could be more
Under the bleachers
Talking all night and debating about
Whether or not I should ask you out
Homecoming dances
Looks from our teachers
I get no prom queen crown or scepter
No cameras, no director
There is no screen to be seen by a spector
No cameras, no director
I get no prom queen crown or scepter
No cameras, no director
You’re not a pick-up line collector
No cameras, no director
People are mean but you’re not my protector
No cameras, no director
I’m not a sudden sign inspector
No cameras, no director
We’ve got a pretty strong bisector
No cameras, no director
Our phones are our only connector
No cameras, no director
Even though you’re sweet as nectar
No cameras, no director
I wish we could be more
Under the bleachers (under the bleachers)
Sunlight in thin lines (sunlight in thin lines)
Illuminating your eyes
Thinking of kissing
But we’re nervous creatures
Even though you’re sweet as nectar
No cameras, no director”
Wendy Clear/ blink-182
“Let’s take the boat out on the bay
Forget your job for just one day
I wish it didn’t have to be so bad
It might be inappropriate, because
Either way, our band gets dropped, oh yeah
I wish it didn’t have to be so bad
But I’d play with fire to break the ice
And I’d play with a nuclear device
Is it something I’ll regret
Why do I want what I can’t get?
I wish it didn’t have to be so bad
The three date theory’s getting old
Everyone’s getting left out in the cold
I wish it didn’t have to be so bad
So I’ll see you with another guy
Who pretends not to hear you when you cry, oh yeah
…
I’ll be moving on, moving on, moving on and on
Moving on, moving on, moving on and on and on”
Cdbaby<3/ chloe moriondo
“I play my music too loud
And I really wanna see you right now
But your head is up in the clouds
And I really don’t know why
You keep playing in my mind
Thinkin’ of you all the time
Inside every cliché rhyme
Yeah, you’re under every line
Keep playin’ in my mind
Thinkin’ of you all the time
Inside every cliché rhyme
…
Cdbaby, wish that you would date me
All I wanted is a yes or a maybe
Cdbaby, think I’m going crazy
Puttin’ you on repeat, listen in the backseat
Cdbaby, wish that you would date me
All I wanted is a yes or a maybe
Cdbaby, think I’m going crazy
All you do is play me lately
Now some songs make me sick
To my stomach when I hear 'em
How’d I let you ruin
One of my favorite albums?”
You know that feeling when you see someone you know and suddenly, you know what song fits them perfectly?
For example: Harley Quinn and “Killer Queen” by… well, Queen!
I think Starman by David Bowie is a song for Superman
When BG’s revving up her bike and getting ready to head out to wage war on crime I always picture this Republica classic playing in the background as she roars off into the night:
BG BG BG!
I think Gym Class Heroes- The Fighter goes really well with Batwing. He’s a professional fighter who is also a superhero. Pretty straightforward.
Songs that remind me of Kon! With no explanaiton behind any of them because I’m tired! Here they are!
kind of really want to assign a blink song to everyone in the batfam but like thats a large family and I hardly know some of them so this would be an extensive project
Songs for a character I became unexpectedly obsessed with in the past few months, the lovely Stephanie Brown
