This sounds like a gritty/dark eighties comic where Robotman finds out he’s given all of his loved ones horrible diseases due to the asbestos he never knew he had inside him.

Considering how many superheroes emit huge amounts of radiation (most without a nice set of bandages, let alone lead aprons, to help offset it), Cliff can at least take comfort in the fact that he’s not the only mutagen-in-a-mask walking around.
