Well, yeah. If you value something it eventually becomes one of your own traits, right? If you value hard work, you will become a hard worker. Or if you value patience you aren’t going to grow into an impulsive person. If I’m understanding your question right…
The other factor is that the Sorting Hat takes your preference into account. I assume a lot of Slytherin asked to be put into Slytherin. Just as Harry asked to not be put into Slytherin. But it is hard to translate that part of that hat to these quizzes and polls.

Remember, the sorting is based on values, not what you are.

It would make more sense if you really think about it. If you value certain traits, you would develop and embrace them overtime.
