I still don’t know why he was still a monster even when the literal monster was taken out of him.

Seriously? I mean Jor has always been portrayed as a bit of a jerk but never full on monster.
Yep, basically in the script, Jor was being bullied by some kids and he went to Brainiac, his “dad” and he told him to do something about it, so Jor-El burned the hell out of the kids.

For me it was all the battle training. That and absolutely Lobo. He’s just a fun/funny guy to throw into the mix of things.
