I am really surprised that my favorite artist has not made anyone’s list above. My favorite is Todd McFarlane. His art was the first time that I noticed, looked for the name, and strove to buy more.
His art is stunning, but when I think of McFarlane, I usually think of Spawn, so it hadn’t really crossed my mind.
Spawn is great. I fell for him on his Spider-man run.
Wow, that’s a tough one. There so many! But I will limit it to ten and hope I don’t leave out one of my favorites.
- Jack Kirby
- Curt Swan
- Neal Adams
- Joe Kubert
- Steve Ditko
- Jim Aparo
- John Buscema
- Ross Andru
- Dan Jurgens
- George Perez
Oh, what the heck, here’s ten more:
John Romita SR.
John Byrne
Gil Kane
Alex Toth
Sal Buscema
Murphy Anderson
Jim Starlin
Bernie Wrightson
Carmine Infantino
Ramona Fradon
See, I told it would be tough.
Michael Turner
Jim Lee
Guillem March
Stjepan Šejić
Marc Silvestre
Joe Benitez
Tony Daniel
Kenneth Rocafort
Terry Dodson
Emanuela Lupacchino
Joelle Jones
Babs Tarr
Kris Anka

Jim Cheung
Dexter Soy. His artwork never disappoints and I love his Jason Todd so much
For the classics, I love Perez, Sprang, Giordano, Adams. Truly some magic pencils. He didn’t draw DC but the late Dave Stevens will always be a favorite.
Mike Mignola, Darwyn Cooke, and Amanda Conner are great in the more stylized sense. You look at a piece of art and you know it’s their work.
My fave B’Man artist list lays out like this:
Marshall Rogers
Norm Breyfogle
Brian Bolland
Bob Kane
Alex Ross
Jim Aparo
I find Aparo and Breyfogle to be great at drawing dynamic poses.
