Tim Drake

What are some good Tim Drake reading recommendations? I’ve learned about and love the other main Robins (Grayson, Todd, & Wayne) but hardly know about Drake. It doesn’t help he’s not in any movies or shows really :unamused: so what are good comics and other formats to learn about his time as both Robin and Red Robin?

Start with “Batman: Year Three” (Batman #436-489):

Then read the Batman/New Titans crossover “A Lonely Place of Dying”:

You may choose to read Batman #433-434 for a bit of additional context:

And then you can jump to Robin #1:

That first Robin mini-series was an absolute favorite back in the day.

I didn’t look to see if it was on here, but after 3 solo minis, he had a long lasting on-going which was really good.

I loved the Red Robin solo series from pre-New 52.

I have to say other than Jason Todd, Tim Drake is my favorite Robin, I have every issue of Tim’s run as Red Robin after Battle for the Cowl, I liked Battle for the Cowl’s idea to have each Robin compete for Bruce’s alter ego, The Todd/Drake fight was amazing!! Credits to all the DC writers and creators for creating Tim Drake!

All three miniseries and the ongoing are on DCU, and all of them are good reading.

The only parts of Tim’s ongoing series that were outright terrible were 112-115 and the first storyline of One Year Later. Speaking of One Year Later, one storyline featuring Tim I enjoyed has been Face the Face, which you can find in Detective Comics 817-820 and Batman 651-654. You’ll be starting in Detective, and then alternate between the two series back and forth.

Detective Comics 826 has a fantastic Tim Drake / Joker storyline by Paul Dini. It’s a stand alone story that highlights Tim’s resourcefulness and why the Joker is a feared villian even outside of Gotham.

I love #826. Possibly my favorite oneshot. As far as I’m concerned, Dini is by far the best Joker writer, and I personally think he edges out Denny O’Neil as the best Batman writer, but that’s a little more controversial.

Totally agree about Dini having the best take on Joker.
