Think You Know Static? Get Featured in DC Universe Encyclopedia!

This week, we’re asking DC fans to submit their fun trivia facts about our favorite humorous high schooler, Static! Also known as Static Shock and of course Virgil Hawins, this electrifying hero has fought alongside some of the most talented members of the DC Universe, AND carried his own animated series! Are you a Static enthusiast? Do you know any deep cut information like total voltage, or average number of quips per appearance?

In season 4 episode 1 of the the TV show “future shock” he teams up with batman beyond after getting thrown into the future and batman beyond and Bruce Wayne acknowledge future static as one of the greatest heroes of their time.

In the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air there is a framed copy of Static issue 1 in Will and Carlton’s bedroom.

Theres a fan made, 13 minute short film on YouTube. Really makes me long for a full length movie. There are…2 now I believe, by the same company. One is from 2012 and the other a 2019 release.

Dwayne McDuffie was initially opposed to the idea of Static having only one living parent in the animated series as he felt it was important to show a black hero with a complete nuclear family to combat the common stereotype, but felt it worked out in the end given the stories that came from it. https://dcanimated.com//WF/staticshock/backstage/interviews/mcduffiewf.php
