Think You Know Batwoman? Get Featured in DC Universe Encyclopedia!

This week, we’re asking DC fans to submit their fun trivia facts about one of our favorite cousins to Bruce Wayne, a philanthropist heiress, described as the highest-profile gay superhero to appear in stories published by DC…that’s right! It’s the beautiful Kate Kane, the one, the only Batwoman!

She has three tattoos.

In comics, tattoos aren’t always common with superheroes because they serve as identifying markers. Kate, however, has at least three.

One is a Green Beret insignia on her arm. An exact match to the one her mother had, it’s likely something she got during military training.

Another is a nautical star on her back. Historically, the nautical star is popular amongst members of the U.S. Navy and Marines.

Her third tattoo isn’t associated with her military past. On her shoulder, the bluebird hides a scar she received during the “Zero Year” arc.

In Flashpoint, Kate Kane is a member of Team 7, an elite unit of soldiers led by Grifter. Kate, along with most of the team, is killed during a botched attack on a terrorist training camp in Flashpoint: Lois Lane and the Resistance #2.

Batwoman first appeared on live action television in the 2018 “Elseworlds” crossover between CW’s Arrow, Flash, and Supergirl. This appearance launched a Batwoman spin-off TV series the following year.
