Tonight was the first part of the first debate between candidates runnning in the Democratic Party primary election for the 2020 presidency. You may be asking, “What on Earth does this have to do with DC Comics?” The answer is simple. As hinted by the title of this thread, one of the candidates in the debate, the representative from Hawaii, Tulsi Gabbard looked very similar tonight to a character in one of DC Comics’ cartoons of yesteryear The Plastic Man Comedy / Adventure Show. Is a presidential candidate secretly an avid fan of retro DC cartoons who dressed this way purposefully to honor DC Comics? Will we ever find out? Probably not. Also worth pointing out is the fact that while this candidate is from Hawaii, in the cartoon in question, Plas’ partner was not Woozy Winks, but a character by the name of Hula Hula. I kid you not.
