Yes, it is used in The Dark Knight, Injustice, Joker, and Dark Knight Returns IV Golden Child.
Even from older stories Wolper tried to use this The Dark Knight Returns only to learn the hard way Joker had other ideas (It was Wolper’s fault for insulting the love of Joker’s life right in front of him on national TV), The Animated Series got into this with “Mad Love.”
My all time favorite Joker story is “The Laughing Fish”/“Sign of The Joker” from Detective Comics nos. 475-476, February-March 1978. As to my favorite Joker actors, that woukd be Mark Hamill and Heath Ledger.
I generally think the Joker is way overused, but Jorge Jimenez and Tomeu Morey depict him so well. Nightmare fuel!
