Deep Dives

Deep Dives into Specific Comics

Will be added as we learn more:

Suicide Squad

From a DC Press Release
“On March 3, Peacemaker takes center stage, leading an Amanda Waller-controlled Task Force X in a new Suicide Squad ongoing series, by Future State: Suicide Squad writer Robbie Thompson, with art by Eduardo Pansica. This series starts off with a bang, as Waller sends Peacemaker and Task Force X to recruit its next member – Talon, the master assassin from the Court of Owls. Meanwhile, she has her own hands full as she tries to recruit – Superboy?”

Note that Superboy seems like they will have some role here. (Presumably, Conner based on Future State).|
Also unlike Tom Taylor’s run on

Teen Titans Academy

From a DC Press Release:
“Class is in session on March 17, 2021, as the Future State: Teen Titans duo of writer Tim Sherridan and artist Rafa Sandoval join the original Titans – Nightwing, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven and Beast Boy – school a new generation of teenage crimefighters in a new ongoing series, Teen Titans Academy. Pay close attention, because one of these novice heroes will become Red X!”

Note: New heroes will be mixed with the original New Teen Titans. Note Cyborg is back in the Titans area instead of the JL section,

Green Lantern

From a DC Press Release:
In April, Future State: Green Lantern writer Geoffrey Thorne continues to uphold the oath of the Green Lantern Corps with a new Green Lantern ongoing series spotlighting John Stewart."
Note John Stewart will be the focus. Which makes sense given this bleeding cool article looking at Geoffrey Thorne’s opinion of Hal Jordan

Wonder Woman

From a DC Press Release:
“In this new story arc, Diana has to endure endless fighting – and partying(?) – as she tries to figure out why she’s in Valhalla, and why nobody seems surprised that she’s there.”

So Wonder Woman and her Greek Mythology is mixing with Norse Mythology. Feels like a different take on WW.

Batman: Urban Legends

From the DC Press release:

What is the book:

Batman: Urban Legends #1 is a $7.99 prestige format series, debuting on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 with covers by Hicham Habchi (main), David Finch (variant) and Kael Ngu (variant).

The Batman Story is a team-up between Red Hood and Batman:

The first six issues are anchored by a Batman/Red Hood thriller from writer Chip Zdarsky ( Detective Comics #1027 , Dark Nights: Death Metal Guidebook #1) and fan-favorite artist Eddy Barrows ( Detective Comics, Freedom Fighters , Future State: Robin Eternal ). Renegade vigilante Jason Todd, a.k.a. Red Hood, is investigating a new and lethal drug sweeping through Gotham City. In the course of one night, this investigation will change his life forever—and put him in Batman’s crosshairs.

The Harley Quinn Story will: (Probably 1 part leading into Harley Quinn #1)

In a story set before the launch of the new ongoing Harley Quinn series, writer Stephanie Phillips and Future State: The Next Batman artist Laura Braga team up to help Harley sort out her complicated history with Poison Ivy—but first she’ll have to find her!

The Outsiders Story:

This debut issue also launches a three-part tale of the Outsiders, courtesy of Future State: Outsiders writer Brandon Thomas with art by Max Dunbar (Marvel’s Champions , Dungeons and Dragons, Judge Dredd ). This saga reunites team members Black Lightning, Katana and Metamorpho, but this reunion quickly turns into a confrontation with the appearance of a figure from Katana’s past!

Grifter Story

Future State: Grifters writer Matthew Rosenberg and artist Ryan Benjamin continue from the pages of Batman #101 , as gun-for-hire Cole Cash is still in Gotham, on the trail of the true motives of the Halo Corporation…and yes, Batman and Grifter go head-to-head again!

From DC Press Release

After an unthinkable attack on Gotham City, the Clown Prince of Crime has become the most wanted man in the world! The Joker is doing his best to stay several steps ahead of law enforcement overseas, but Jim Gordon, facing retirement, realizes this is the last manhunt of his life and vows to track down Gotham’s worst nemesis, completing his storied career. But there are some mysterious and deadly forces that are also on the hunt for The Joker, and they’re not going to let Gordon slow them down or get in the way.

In the backup story by Tynion IV, co-writer Sam Johns, and artist Mirka Andolfo, Alexis Kaye, a.k.a. Punchline becomes the newest resident of Blackgate Penitentiary, while on the outside Harper Row resumes her role as Bluebird to prevent her brother from falling under the influence of Punchline and her beguiling brand of anarchy and chaos.

The Joker is a 40-page $4.99 monthly series debuting at comic book stores and participating digital retailers on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

Crime Syndicate

From DC Press Release

Spinning out of the pages of Dark Nights: Death Metal , the DC Multiverse is reborn, and with it a new Earth-3! Witness the true origins of the malevolent makers of mayhem known as the Crime Syndicate as a common foe unites them! But how long can alliances last between villains like these?

“Kieran and I were given a once a lifetime opportunity to build a world from the ground up,” said writer Andy Schmidt. “We’re establishing the Crime Syndicate’s origin story for the first time—how and why they came together. And we’re not taking it lightly. You’ll find that you’ve entered a fully realized world—this is the story of the Crime Syndicate, but it’s also the story of Earth-3 and it moves fast and pulls no punches.”

Also in this debut issue, witness the origin of Ultraman in our special backup story drawn by super-star artist Bryan Hitch!

Now, if you are like (I want to read everything here, what do I read next?) (I’m working on something that should drop soon)

Awesome! This is really helpful. Thanks so much for making this.

Does anyone know when the solicitations are?

Can we contribute and edit as well? :slightly_smiling_face:

Of course. It’s a wiki for a reason!

Probably Friday. Given that DC made another 2021 announcement already this week, it’s almost 100% of Friday.

Yeah I thought it was gonna be last Friday. I wonder why it wasn’t.

Probably because it was too early. I was guessing, but it’s normally a friday in the teens, so it seems in this case it was the later teens date.

Thank You!
