Eh… yeah it is a bummer. Especially with it happening without seeing him one more time. I just feel like Alex’s reaction to the whole thing was out of left field and so forced just to drive the plot.

If I were to take a wild guess, I’d say that it has something to do with Dean Cain not being a good fit for Supergirl or the other way around. CW/Supergirl are on very opposite sides when it comes to values these days judging by Dean’s social media of late. We would have most likely have gotten a recast if Jeremiah was to return.
