I would highly suggest reading Geoff Johns’ and Gary Frank’s “Origins” arc, if you haven’t already. It’s here on DCU as part of the 2011 Justice League series as a backup feature. Based on everything I’ve seen from the trailers, it’s probably the single most influential Shazam story. Jerry Ordway’s Power of Shazam is also on here. I haven’t gotten to read that series yet, but I’ve heard it’s good.

If you go to the comics section, look for HubCityQuestion post. If you put in a character you’re interested in, he’ll search & recommend all the comics on DC Universe for you to check out. That’s pretty awesome!

I also posted a “recommended Shazam reads” thread that had some useful info.

The Johns arc in the Justice League book is recommended reading for sure. The movie draws a LOT from that arc in particular.

Thanks guys! Got some digging to do!

The Superman/Shazam: Return of Black Adam animated feature on here is also worth a look.
