Richard Belzer Has Died

Richard Belzer may be best known as Detective John Munch on Homicide: Life on the Street and the Law & Order shows, but he did have a strong connection to DC. He was a regular on The Flash '90, playing TV reporter Joe Kline. Later he played Inspector Henderson on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. He was also in the pilot for Human Target '92. Sadly, he has died at age 78.

Here he is as Joe Kline from The Flash.

May Lenny Briscoe greet him with a sarcastic quip.

Saw this. Crazy news. Didn’t know he did DC stuff. Only knew him from L&O the most.
Rest in Peace

Lois and Clark had some really WTF casting, and Belzer as Inspector Henderson fell in that category for my tastes. Richard as an aggressive reporter in Flash was more on the mark though

With a number of pro wrestlers playing DC characters these days, it is interesting to remember that Hulk Hogan once choked him unconscious on the air and dropped him on the floor in a bizarre attempt to prove that pro wrestling wasn’t staged. Belzer of course sued the beejezus out of Hogan. Apparently the “wrestling is all real” defense didn’t hold up that well.
