In August of 2016, south Louisiana suffered what was termed a 1,000-year flood. My wife and I were very lucky. We lost an automobile, but fortunately, our house was spared flooding by mere inches. The statue pictured was located under 6 feet of brown, muddy water. Pictured on the left is the statue as I found it minus the cape which was simply gross. The right arm was broken, scallops were broken on both gauntlets, the belt and chest emblem had fallen off, but I managed to locate the belt and salvage it. I replaced broken parts and the belt buckle using baked clay polymers, cut the suit to fix the arm, replaced the bat emblem using a faux leather fabric and added a new cape. If you’d like to see the entire restoration, including the house from where the statue was recovered, visit the link below…and say hello!
