I know that some fans have wanted to create a restored cut of Superman IV for some time now. Of course, Superman IV doesn’t get the love that Superman II gets, so an extended edition never got much official traction at Warner Brothers. What’s really frustrating, though, is that the DVD release didn’t include all of the deleted scenes, and the ones they did include appeared to be from a scratched up workprint.
Superman IV was doomed to be a failure the moment that Cannon repurposed a huge chunk of its budget for other projects, but there is a much better film to be made from what was shot.
