Penguin: Pain & Prejudice - Hurwitz and Kudranski

A fittingly literary title for a multi layered character exploration. Hurwitz brings his novelistic skills into this world and Kudranski paints it all to life, dark turns and shadows abound.

Definitely one of my favorite villain focused stories. “Have him brought” still gives me chills.

Talk about haunting and brooding.

I know this is beside the point, but I really enjoy the artwork, specifically the subtle redesign of the Penguin’s outfit: the round glasses instead of a monocle and trench coat instead of a tux jacket give him a gritty modern edge while keeping enough elements of his classic design (top hat, bow tie, cigarette holder, etc) that it still recognizably him. Here’s hoping Colin Farrell adopts a similar look for the character in Batman 2021!

By far, the top physical realization that I’ve seen.
