Obscurity of DC Presents: Obscure Book Club, Week 50 (February 19-February 25) --- THE OTHERS PT 2!

Why hello there, @ObscurityofDCClub and other members of the DC Community! Welcome to Week 50 of Obscurity of DC’s Obscure Book Club! This week, we’ll be concluding a 2-week focus on…

AQUAMAN AND THE OTHERS!!!
AGE SUGGESTION: 12+

Number of Issues: 6 — Please only read issues 7-12 (Unless you haven’t read 1-6 yet, in which case, you should read those first.)

Brief description from dc.fandom.com: The Others were a small group of individuals that discovered, and subsequently protected the Dead King’s Atlantean Weapons.

Now that that’s over with, here are some discussion questions:

  1. A few members within the team are romantically involved (ie. Aquaman and Mera, Sky Alchesay and Aaron Cole, Ya’Wara and Kahina (kinda), etc.). How do you think these internal relationships affected the team’s dynamic?
  2. Why do you think Aaron Cole never officially joins The Others?
  3. If you had to look after any of the Atlantean artifacts, which would you choose? Why?
  4. What was your favorite part of the series? Why?
  5. The official team name is “The Others,” so why do you think the series is called “Aquaman and the Others?”

Do you have an interest in exploring the unknown? Do you like discussing comics? Do you like pineapple on pizza? If so, The Obscurity of DC Club is the club for you! Join HERE if you’re interested!

  1. Not really explored in depth but did. lead to some emotional responses first instead of team ones.
  2. As the operative his independence is part of his mission, belonging to any team would hamper that, additionally, he doesn’t want to get too close to anyone.
  3. The Seal, knowing alllqnguages would be awesome. No more subtitles.
  4. The fact Aquaman had a team before the JL, and learning about new characters.
  5. Similar to Batman and the Outsiders, name recognition to sell comics.
