HBO MAX: TO THE MAX!!!
AGE SUGGESTION: It’s for everyone!

Number of Issues: 3

Not-so-brief description from dc.com: In a world where, every day, people dream of being something more, three unexpected heroes get the chance to achieve their maximum potential. From outer space to Singapore to a Las Vegas casino, when danger looms, powerhouse champions make their explosive debuts! Given the chance to choose new abilities from a list curated to match their own interests and talents, each leaves their ordinary existence behind and goes… to the MAX!

Now that that’s over with, here are some discussion questions:

  1. Which of the three heroes was your favorite? Why?
  2. Which of the issues was your favorite? Why?
  3. Did you feel like the stories were in the same universe, or do you think they were completely separate? Explain.

Do you have an interest in exploring the unknown? Do you like discussing comics? Do you like pineapple on pizza? If so, The Obscurity of DC Club is the club for you! Join HERE if you’re interested!

I discovered these a while back and wow…they are obscure, for sure! I’m not sure why these were even made but they were and they’re available here on DCUI so let’s go!

(Am I the first person to ever re-read these books that wasn’t paid to do so? )

I re-read them a year or so ago, and of my own volition.

They weren’t very good, but I liked Jim Lee’s cover for #1.

Well, those were certainly comics I read.

  1. Which of the three heroes was your favorite? Why?

I’d go with the stand-up lady. Now that I think about it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that as a backstory for a superhero, that could be kinda interesting.

  1. Which of the issues was your favorite? Why?

Again, stand-up lady. The other two felt very rote, standard superhero fare. Issue 3 was too, but at least the stand-up comic/Vegas route gave it some slightly different dressing.

  1. Did you feel like the stories were in the same universe, or do you think they were completely separate? Explain.

I mean, considering each issue ended with them talking about “making friends along the way” with the other heroes flying around them, I assume they’ve in the same universe. I’m just surprised that there wasn’t a story where all three of them met.
